How Gaskets Prevent Leaks

Gaskets keep fluids or air from leaking through the tiny gaps where two metal surfaces are joined together.

A gasket, sandwiched between the two surfaces, fills in the gaps and seals off the “leak paths” so fluids and air can’t escape.
